Enoch Arden by Alfred Tennyson 1st 1864

London: Edward Moxon & Co (1864)

First edition and second issue bound in the original green cloth. Ads at front dated September 1864. In very good + condition. There is light fading to the spine and very minor wear to the corner tips. All pages very clean with very little foxing or marks at all. A previous owner’s contemporary inscription is opposite the title page and dated in the year of publication. Overall very good +

Enoch Arden is a narrative poem published during Tennyson’s tenure as England's poet laureate. It is about a fisherman that leaves his family to go to work at sea only to be shipwrecked on an island for years. On return he finds his family are now being looked after by his dastardly rival. Bad times for poor Enoch. Rare in its original binding.
