First UK edition published by Hodder & Stoughton in 1959. This copy is in near fine condition. The wrapper is in fantastic condition with only tiny amounts of wear to the the occasional edge. The there is a small closed tear to the top right of the front panel. There is very little loss at all to the jacket and the back panel is clean with only very light marks. It is not price clipped retaining the 12s 6d net price. The book is in lovely condition with no foxing or browning. The text block is clear from marks and there is no previous owner's ink. Overall a near fine copy.

 

'East of Algiers' is the second of two novels written by the double act Francis Durbridge and Douglas Rutherford using the name 'Paul Temple' as a pseudonym. 'Paul Temple' is also the main protagonist of this novel. at this stage they had also written 'The Tyler Mystery' together as well, with Durbridge continuing to pen Temple mysteries separately and also for the radio.  This crime detection novel sees Temple investigating investigating the circumstances around a body found in a paris bin. Enquiries lead to Tunis with a murder trial leading across Europe and North Africa.....
