Changed Men by Paul Alverdes 1st / 1st 1930

London: Chatto & Windus (1929). First UK edition of the author’s second war book (after ‘The Whistlers’ Room). This is in very good condition. The scarce and striking wrapper has some minor wear to the spine ends and corners The top right hand corner of the front panel has a short tear. It has not been price clipped. The pages and book are clean with very little foxing or other marks. Overall a very good copy.

A scarce collection of eight short stories relating to the war from the German author and poet who was the son of an officer and member of the German Youth Movement. He volunteered for duty at the outbreak of the war and received a severe injury to the throat. After 1922 he became a freelance author in Munich.
