Before the Bombardment Signed Presentation Copy by Osbert Sitwell 1st / 1st 1926

First UK edition published by Duckworth in 1926. This is a very near fine copy. The wrapper is complete with just a very small closed tear to the front top of the panel. The book appears unread. Orange cloth with a blue top stain still bright. The book has been stored away for most of its life, so consequently there is no toing to the spine of the wrapper and very little if any foxing or other marks. The condition of the book makes it very striking. 
 
This copy has been inscribed by Sitwell to the second blank end paper to fellow author W.S. Maugham. He writes 'for W.S. Maugham, with affection, homage, and fear, from Osbert Sitwell 2. Oct. 1926'. Inscribed to Maugham soon after the book was published. Maugham had known Sitwell at least as early as 1922, for he was one of the guests at Maugham's dinner party in that year. An exceptionally sharp copy of the authors first novel. And a significant association between these two authors.
