First UK edition published by The Hogarth Press in 1946. One of 5000 printed. Published in November 1946. White dust jacket printed in black and grey designed by Vanessa Bell.  It is almost fine with only very minor loss to the top of the spine. The jacket retains the correct price on the inside flap of 8s. 6d. Net. The book itself is in grey cloth and lettered in gilt. It is in fine condition. Overall this is a remarkable copy in highly collectible very near fine condition.  
 
Henry Green's seventh novel, about a man being released from prison and going back to his life only to find so much of it has changed. With the wonderfully designed Venessa Bell dust wrapper this copy is very rare in such superb condition.  Woolmer 522.
