Atonement signed by Ian Mcewan 1st / 1st 2001
First UK edition and first print published by Jonathan Cape in 2001. It is in near fine condition. The wrapper is very complete with no tears or chips. There is some gentle rubbing to the top of the spine. It is not price clipped. The book is very presentable with clean and bright boards. There is some mild wear to the top of the spine. The pages have no foxing or previous owners ink. Overall a near fine copy and signed by the author to the title page without dedication.
Set in three time periods, 1935 England, Second World War England and France, and present-day England, it covers an upper-class girl's half-innocent mistake that ruins lives, her adulthood in the shadow of that mistake, and a reflection on the nature of writing. Widely regarded as one of McEwan's best works, it was shortlisted for the 2001 Booker Prize. In 2010, TIME magazine named Atonement in its list of the 100 greatest English-language novels since 1923.
