Animal Liberation Signed Presentation Copy by Peter Singer 1st / 1st 1976

£575.00Price

FIRST UK EDITION published by Jonathan Cape in 1976. This is a near fine copy. The wrapper is complete and has not been price clipped displaying the correct price of £4.95 net. There is only very minor rubbing to the top of the spine. The book is also in very nice condition. There is a small indentation mark to the front board. Otherwise all is clean and presentable. Overall near fine.

Animal Liberation is considered a modern classic and founding statement around animal human rights. The author is australian philosopher Peter Singer. This copy is particularly rare because Singer has signed and inscribed to Jon Wynne Tyson, also an animal rights activist, penning 'food for future' at a similar time, that is a key title in vegetarianism. Wynne Tyson is also known for founding The Centaur Press and he also held the title 'King of Redonda' for a short while. Peter Singer says in his inscription "For Jon Wynne Tyson - one of the few people for whom this book did NOT need to be written. If only there were more like you! Peter Singer". There are then pencil annotations in the book, in the main little tick marks most likely from Wynne Tyson agreeing with Peter Singer. A very rare book with the warm inscription between the two animal rights authors.
