This is a near fine copy and has been signed by Batten to the title page; A montage of three photos and a Jean Batten stamp relating to a landing at Montevideo in 1935. One of the photos and the stamp have been signed by Batten; a signed photo of Batten in her Gipsy Moth dated 1935; a signed letter from Batten dated 1944; a wonderful framed portrait photo of Batten dated 1936 and a copy of Picture Post where she is on the front cover driving an ambulance during WW2.
Jean Batten made a number of record breaking solo flights across the world during the 1930's in particular flying from England to New Zealand in 1936. Nicknamed the Garbo of the sky, she carried out her feats in a gipsy moth biplane. She also carried out gruelling solo flights to South America, as is evident here with her transatlantic flight to Uruguay. A unique and wonderful set of signed items.
