All This and Bevin Too by Quentin Crisp / Mervyn Peake 1st / 1st 1943

First edition and first print published by Nicholson and Watson in 1943. A remarkably well preserved near fine copy of this notoriously fragile early title by Quentin Crisp. The paper wraps are very complete with little wear at all. The staples have started to rust but the binding is very tight. The pages are very clean and free from foxing or ink. Overall its a very nice near fine copy.

From the Author that went on to pen 'The Naked Civil Servant' this is an early Long poem. It's about the a kangaroo responding to a call to arms; satirizing wartime recruitment propaganda. (At the time, Ernest Bevin was Minister of Labour, tasked with maximizing the British labour supply for the armed services). A rare early title with drawings by Mervyn Peake and rare in this condition.
