Meridian by Alice Walker, 1st/1st, 1976
London: Andre Deutsch, (1976). First edition. This copy is near fine. The bright dust wrapper is clean and presentable; however, the spine has faded, the price has been scribbled out (but not price clipped) and there are general light signs of shelf wear. The boards are free from chips and marks and the text blocks are bright and white. Overall, this is a near fine copy. 'Meridian' is about Meridian Hill, a young black woman in the late 1960s who is attending college as she embraces the civil rights movement at a time when the movement became silent. The story follows her life into the 1970s through a relationship that ultimately fails, and her continued efforts to support the movement.
